WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning immediately rejuvenates the skin by removing the top layer of skin cells from the stratum corneum (very top layer of the epidermis) along with vellus hair (peach fuzz.) It is highly effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, while leaving skin smooth, supple, and vibrant. It has been utilized in medical practices for over 40 years to prepare the skin for chemical peels and laser treatments.

Apart from being a stand-alone service, it can also be utilized to prepare skin for light chemical peels, enzymes, light therapy, and other modalities. Dermaplaning increases the penetration of active ingredients in treatment room and home care products. It creates the perfect canvas for makeup application and is the go-to treatment to prepare for important occasions.

Dermaplaning is a physical/mechanical exfoliation that is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained skin care specialist utilizing the appropriate tools and practices for the service.

WILL DERMAPLANING MAKE MY HAIR GROW BACK DARKER?

Since dermaplaning is essentially shaving (along with exfoliation benefits), it is not possible for this to alter the structure or function of the hair. A vellus hair only changes into a terminal hair due to hormonal changes. We do; however, recommend adding a facial wax onto your appointment if you have any darker (terminal) hairs. In the event that you do notice darker hairs regrowing after dermaplaning, this is due to us having removed an already terminal hair. It is simply regrowing as the type of hair it was pervious to your dermaplane appointment.
